Jupiter Medical Center is set to open the Mastroianni Family Pediatric Emergency Department, a 6,300-square-foot facility designed to provide specialized emergency care for children this week. Featuring eight bedded rooms, two triage rooms, and state-of-the-art equipment, the facility aims to accommodate the growing number of pediatric cases, which have increased by 30% since the hospital’s De George Pediatric Unit opened in 2016. Equipped with advanced features like a tube system linked to the lab, a portable X-ray, and a negative pressure room, the department is prepared for a wide range of pediatric emergencies, except for trauma cases, which can be transferred via a nearby helipad.

Beyond medical care, the new pediatric wing emphasizes a comforting and engaging experience for young patients. The waiting room includes an interactive floor, a portable gaming unit, and a remote-controlled car for transporting children within the hospital. These features aim to ease the anxiety often associated with emergency visits, creating a welcoming environment that combines cutting-edge treatment with thoughtful touches to ensure a positive experience for children and their families.
